Troubleshooting Problems Opening NRS Files
Common NRS Opening Problems
Missing Nero 2017
If you attempt to load your NRS file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open NRS Files". If so, it typically means that you don't have Nero 2017 installed for %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the NRS file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your NRS, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Obsolete Version of Nero 2017
In other instances, your Nero CD-ROM Boot EFI Compilation File file version may not be supported by your version of Nero 2017. Visit the Nero AG website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Nero 2017. Most of the time your Nero CD-ROM Boot EFI Compilation File file was created by a newer Nero 2017 than what you have installed.
Tip: Investigate your NRS file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening NRS files are due to having the incorrect version of Nero 2017 installed on your computer.
Other NRS File Opening Causes
You can still experience errors opening NRS files even with the latest version of Nero 2017 installed on your PC. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening NRS files. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- Invalid NRS file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Accidental deletion of the description of the NRS file in the Windows registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the NRS format
- Your NRS can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Malware-tainted NRS file can't be opened
- Hardware related to NRSs has device driver corruption
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your Nero CD-ROM Boot EFI Compilation File file
