Troubleshoot NRI Files
Common NRI Opening Problems
Nero Burning ROM Not Present
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open NRI Files" when trying to open your NRI. If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Nero Burning ROM for %%os%% installed on your computer. The OS won't know what to do with your NRI file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: If you don't have Nero Burning ROM installed, and you know of another program to open your NRI file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Nero Burning ROM Requires Update
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Nero ISO CD Compilation File file that is unsupported by your installed application version. Installing the latest version of Nero Burning ROM from Nero AG is recommended. This problem is most common when you have an older version of the software application, and your file was created by a newer version that it cannot recognize.
Tip: If you right-click on your NRI file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening NRI files are due to having the incorrect version of Nero Burning ROM installed on your computer.
More Causes of Problems Opening NRIs
You can still experience errors opening NRI files even with the latest version of Nero Burning ROM installed on your PC. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening NRI files. These issues include:
- NRI file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Deletion of the NRI file description from the Registry by mistake
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the NRI format
- Something has caused file corruption of your NRI
- Malware-tainted NRI file can't be opened
- Hardware associated with NRI has outdated drivers
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Nero ISO CD Compilation File files
