Troubleshooting Problems Opening NMD Files
Troubles Opening NMD Files
Nero Burning ROM Removed
Double-clicking your NMD file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open NMD File". When this happens, it is commonly due to Nero Burning ROM missing in %%os%%. The typical path of opening your NMD with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: When another NMD application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Obsolete Version of Nero Burning ROM
Sometimes your installed version of Nero Burning ROM won't support your Nero MiniDVD Compilation Data file. Visit the Nero AG website to download (or purchase) the latest version of Nero Burning ROM. Your Nero MiniDVD Compilation Data file was probably created by a newer release of Nero Burning ROM than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Investigate your NMD file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Conclusion: The majority of NMD file opening issues are due to not having the correct Nero Burning ROM version installed.
Other NMD File Issues
You can still experience errors opening NMD files even with the latest version of Nero Burning ROM installed on your PC. Other NMD opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Additional factors include:
- File references in the Windows Registry for NMD are wrong
- Corruption of the NMD file description inside the Registry
- Invalid installation of a NMD-associated program (eg. Nero Burning ROM)
- Something has caused file corruption of your NMD
- Past or present virus infection has affected your NMD
- Hardware related to NMDs has device driver corruption
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Nero MiniDVD Compilation Data files
