Troubleshoot DIZ Files
Common DIZ Opening Problems
Microsoft Notepad is Not Installed
If you attempt to load your DIZ file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open DIZ Files". Usually, this is because you do not have Microsoft Notepad for %%os%% installed. The typical path of opening your DIZ with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: Another DIZ-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Wrong Version of Microsoft Notepad is Installed
Your Description In Zip File file is incompatible with Microsoft Notepad because you might have the wrong version installed. Download the latest Microsoft Notepad version from the Microsoft Corporation website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This problem is predominately due to having a Description In Zip File file version that was created by a newer version of Microsoft Notepad than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Investigate your DIZ file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening DIZ files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
More Causes of Problems Opening DIZs
Assuming you have the right Microsoft Notepad version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening DIZ files. If you are continuing to have errors with loading DIZ files, other external issues might be to blame. These issues include:
- DIZ file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Deletion of the DIZ file description from the Registry by mistake
- Microsoft Notepad or another DIZ application experienced a flawed installation
- Something has caused file corruption of your DIZ
- The DIZ is infected with a virus
- DIZ-related hardware has device drivers that obsolete
- Windows cannot load your Description In Zip File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
