Understanding NGR Issues
Troubles Opening NGR Files
Missing NEPLAN Electricity
When trying to open your NGR file, you get the error "Can't Open NGR File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have NEPLAN Electricity for %%os%% installed on your computer. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens NGR files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
NEPLAN Electricity is Out-of-Date
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of NEPLAN Electricity installed that's incompatible with your NEPLAN Graphic Data type. Visit the NEPLAN AG website to download (or purchase) the latest version of NEPLAN Electricity. The primary cause of this problem is that your NEPLAN Graphic Data file was created by a different (newer) version of NEPLAN Electricity than what's installed.
Tip: If you right-click on your NGR file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Regardless, most of the NGR file opening problems relate to not having the right version of NEPLAN Electricity installed.
Other NGR File Issues
Although you might already have NEPLAN Electricity or another NGR-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening NEPLAN Graphic Data files. If you are still having problems opening NGR files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Issues that aren't software-related:
- NGR file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry NGR description
- Invalid installation of a NGR-associated program (eg. NEPLAN Electricity)
- Your NGR file is corrupted (issues with your NEPLAN Graphic Data file itself)
- Malware-tainted NGR file can't be opened
- Drivers associated with NGR software need to be updated
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your NEPLAN Graphic Data file
