Troubleshoot DAB Files
Common DAB Opening Problems
DMB Player Disappeared
You attempt to load your DAB file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The DAB File Extension". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have DMB Player for %%os%% installed on your computer. You won't be able to double-click to open your DAB because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your DAB, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
DMB Player Requires Update
Your Digital Audio Broadcasting Audio Data file is incompatible with DMB Player because you might have the wrong version installed. Download the latest DMB Player version from the Epigon Media Technologies website to ensure you have the correct one installed. The primary cause of this problem is that your Digital Audio Broadcasting Audio Data file was created by a different (newer) version of DMB Player than what's installed.
Tip: Right-clicking on your DAB, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Regardless, most of the DAB file opening problems relate to not having the right version of DMB Player installed.
Other DAB File Opening Causes
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of DMB Player will resolve your issue. If you are continuing to have errors with loading DAB files, other external issues might be to blame. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for DAB
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry DAB description
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the DAB format
- Your DAB file is corrupted (issues with your Digital Audio Broadcasting Audio Data file itself)
- Your DAB is infected with malware
- Hardware related to DABs has device driver corruption
- Windows cannot load your Digital Audio Broadcasting Audio Data file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
