Troubleshoot RRW Files
Common RRW Opening Problems
GoldMine is Not Installed
When you double-click your RRW file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have GoldMine installed for %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the RRW file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: When another RRW application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Outdated GoldMine
Your Goldmine Report File file is incompatible with GoldMine because you might have the wrong version installed. Installing the latest version of GoldMine from Ivanti is recommended. Most of the time your Goldmine Report File file was created by a newer GoldMine than what you have installed.
Tip: Investigate your RRW file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Summary: Not having the right GoldMine version on your computer can cause problems opening RRW files.
Other RRW File Issues
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of GoldMine will resolve your issue. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening RRWs. Other contributing causes:
- File references in the Windows Registry for RRW are wrong
- Unintentional removal of the description of the RRW file inside the Windows Registry
- Defective install of a RRW program, such as GoldMine
- Your RRW can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- Malware-tainted RRW file can't be opened
- Hardware related to RRWs has device driver corruption
- Insufficient system resources to successfully open Goldmine Report File files
